Elisabeth Moss to Star in Simon Curtis’ Women Rights Drama “Call Jane”

After winning an Emmy for best actress in a drama series for her role in The Handmaid’s Tale, it has been confirmed that Elisabeth Moss will be starring in a new film titled Call Jane.

The independent production will be Moss’s first feature follow-up to Hulu’s hit series and she will play the title character.

Simon Curtis, who served as director on My Week With Marilyn, will helm the film. Robbie Brenner is producing along with Jeff Kwatinetz and Kevin McKeonand. The screenplay is written by Hayley Schore and Roshan Sethi and is based on a true story.

The film centers on the story of a 1960s movement called the Jane Collective. Set in Chicago, it focuses on a network of suburban women who secretly provided safe abortions for women. Moss’ character, a married woman who becomes pregnant unexpectedly, turns to the group of women for help.

Moss took to Instagram to share the news with her fans. She wrote, “So thrilled to announce this new film with director Simon Curtis about the Jane Collective… an incredible group that’s story has never been told before.”
