Fox to reboot James Cameron’s “True Lies” for TV

14 new takes on old TV shows are set to debut in 2017! This time it’s James Cameron’s True Lies to get a reboot in the form of a TV series.

The original 1994 action-thriller filmed starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. Currently, Fox has given a put-pilot commitment to an hour-long dramatic adaptation of the film.

The 1994 True Lies centered on the life of U.S. government Harry Tasker, a spy, balancing home life and work. However, this becomes increasingly complicated as wife Helen discovers what her husband really does for a living and is eager to join the adventure. The film was the third highest-grossing movie of 1994 — banking $378.9 million worldwide — behind The Lion King and Forrest Gump, and Curtis won the Golden Globe for Best Actress (Musical or Comedy).

Marc Guggenheim will be writing the script for the pilot, as Cameron is signed on as executive producer. The pilot is being produced by Wonderland and Lightstorm in association with 20th Century Fox TV.
