After working together on the set of the superhero movie Fantastic Four in 2015, actor Jamie Bell knew that there’s no doubt the he’ll marry his co-star Kate Mara. The two started dating shortly after filming ended and tied the knot last July in L.A. Bell gushed over his House of Cards star wife during his interview for the latest issue of ES Magazine, telling of “an instant connection… [i]t was obvious very quickly that we were going to get married.”
In the interview, the 31-year-old actor candidly spoke of his wife and 4-year-old son. He was previously married to Evan Rachel Wood, which he divorced after 2 years of marriage in 2014. Having a son, the actor said, has really changed his perspective on fatherhood and the difficulties of being a good parent, an uneasy topic for Bell whose father left his mother before he was born.
“It’s difficult raising a child. It’s really stressful. It requires a lot of you. You have to sacrifice your life and some people don’t want to do that. It’s not particularly noble, but I could see why the easier thing is to leave.” Having said that, the actor added that there’s no doubt that his proudest achievement is his son: “I’m obsessed. It’s almost kind of painful, that thing when you are falling into something so unconditionally.”
Bell is focused on creating healthy environment for his son, stressing that if he succeeds, his child will too.
