A new project for the creator of Netflix’s Orange is the New Black and GLOW gets green light at Lifetime.
Jenji Kohan will serve as executive producer, alongside creators Tara Herrmann and Jamie Denbo for the newly scripted series American Princess.
The ten-episode order centers on a Manhattan socialite whose wedding goes array as she discovers that her fiancé has been cheating on her. To cope, she runs off to join a Renaissance faire.
Executive VP and Head of Programming at Lifetime, Liz Gateley told Hollywood Reporter: “Jenji has always taken interesting and unconventional worlds and given them hear and humor. From the get-go, American Princess was a concept we loved as it’s incredibly relatable to want to parachute from one’s life in difficult times.”
