Netflix green lights Ryan Murphy and Sarah Paulson’s origin ‘Nurse Ratched’ series

Ryan Murphy and Sarah Paulson will team up once again for a new original series for Netflix.

Netflix gave the green light for two seasons of Ratched. This will be Murphy’s first streaming series. The idea for the series actually came from newcomer Evan Romansch who also wrote the pilot’s script.

Murphy and Paulson have collaborated in the past on multiple successful projects including American Horror Story and American Crime Story. This time they will team up for Ratched, a series which will center on the origin of the nurse in 1974’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The series will begin in 1974 and will chronicle Ratched’s turning into a full-fledged tyrant nurse. Paulson will play a younger version of the sadistic nurse, taking over Louise Fletcher who played the nurse in the original film.

Ratched is planned to go into production in 2018.
