OK Police Officer Fines Himself for Speeding

SPERRY, OKLA. (AP) – A small northeast Oklahoma police chief issued himself a ticket after a video caught him driving over the speed limit.

Justin Burch posted an apology onto the Sperry Police Department’s Facebook page Saturday, confessing that he was “wrong in traveling at 75 and 80 mph.”

In the post Burch admits he’s not entirely sure he would have given himself a citation if it weren’t for the incident having been caught on camera, and that he had a “reason for being in a hurry”, an excuse he probably heard once or twice in the line of duty before.

Nonetheless, he claims he must “be held accountable”, and that he wrote himself the more than $300 ticket that he plans to pay it in full.
