The third “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” movie could happen ‘sooner rather than later’

Great news for Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants fans — the third installment of the movie franchise could happen “sooner rather than later.”

A third movie about that magical pair of jeans might hit theaters sooner than expected as Amber Tamblyn who played Tibby confirmed to EW that the much anticipated future installment has been “in development for a while.”

The movie will check in on the now-adult best friends Tibby, Lena, Carmen and Bridget. Tamblyn added that she has “high hopes for [the film] happening sooner rather than later.”

Co-stars, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Blake Lively, met on the set of the 2005 film. The four’s on-screen relationship translated into real life as they often reunite as a group to support each other’s projects. These real life Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants reunions are something that fans go crazy for.

A recent reunion happened this May when Lively and Bledel attended the premiere of Tamblyn’s directorial debut Paint it Black. Tamblyn said that the group finds it sweet that fans get so excited when seeing them together. “We love it. Any time people are excited about us taking pictures of our fingers up each other’s noses, we’re like, ‘Okay, sure.’ We kinda fancy ourselves just like any girl group.”
