Taylor Swift walked into this year’s American Music Awards as the most decorated artist in the show’s history and that didn’t change by the end of the night. She extended her all-time record to 40 trophies by winning six more awards, including artist of the year.
Swift owes her awards to the re-recorded version of her album Red, which was in the running in both pop and country categories. It won awards for favorite pop and favorite country album, while the song “All Too Well” won the award for the favorite music video. Swift herself was also named as the favorite pop artist and favorite country artist.
Bad Bunny, who came into the night as the most nominated act with eight nods, was one of the artists who managed to snag two awards. The list also included Harry Styles, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Wallen, and Wizkid.
It was also a big night for Dove Cameron, who managed to beat the likes of Gayle and Latto to win the award for the new artist of the year. Elton John and Dua Lipa won the trophy for collaboration of the year with their hit single “Cold Heart”.
The 50th American Music Awards returned to Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 20, with Wayne Brady hosting the ceremony.
