Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak won countless awards since forming their group Silk Sonic, and they came back to dominate at this year’s BET Awards. They collected the top prizes in the music categories, while King Richard was the biggest winner in the movie field.
Silk Sonic was competing against the likes of Drake, Doja Cat, and Kanye West for the album of the year award, but that didn’t stop them from coming out victorious. They were also named the best group and won the award for the video of the year for “Smokin out the Window”, while Anderson .Paak picked up the trophy for the video director of the year.
Kendrick Lamar was right behind with two awards, including best male hip hop artist. Megan Thee Stallion picked up the trophy for the best female hip hop artist, while Jazmine Sullivan and The Weeknd picked up the awards in R&B/pop genres.
King Richard was the most nominated film at this year’s BET Awards, and it walked away with two
trophies – the best movie and best actor for Will Smith. Zendaya won the award for the best actress for her roles in Euphoria and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The 2022 BET Awards were held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on June 26, with Taraji P. Henson hosting the ceremony.
