Taylor Swift came into this year’s MTV Video Music Awards as one of the top contenders and exceeded our wildest expectations. Her short film “All Too Well” won the award for the video of the year and her acceptance speech was quite memorable because she used it to announce her next album.

Swift revealed her new album will be called Midnights and that it’s coming on October 21, but it didn’t take her long to share more details about this record. She took to social media to introduce the album and described it as “a journey through terrors and sweet dreams”.

Swift took two more trophies at this year’s MTV VMAs with “All Too Well”—best longform video and best direction. Surprisingly enough, she wasn’t even the most awarded artist of the night.

That honor belonged to Jack Harlow, who picked up four accolades—song of summer for “First Class” and best collaboration, best art direction, and best visual effects for No. 1 single “Industry Baby” with Lil Nas X. It was also a big night for Harry Styles, who collected three trophies including album of the year for Harry’s House.

The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards took place on August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, with LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow sharing the hosting duties.
