The 28 Days Later franchise is alive and kicking, and the trailer for the latest installment is taking us back to the apocalyptic wasteland. The first promo clip for 28 Years Later is here, and it sees a new group of survivors trying to stand their ground against hordes of infected zombies.
According to its official logline, 28 Years Later takes place almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and centers on people who have found ways to exist amidst the infected.
“One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well,” reads the official logline.
Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes lead the cast of the latest sequel in this series, while the trailer also teases the return of Cillian Murphy. Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, Erin Kellyman, and Edvin Ryding will join them in supporting roles.
28 Years Later marks the return of the director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland, who previously collaborated on 28 Days Later. It will be released on June 20, 2025, and followed by a sequel 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple.
