Yesterday’s event in Washington has seen three times more people than Donald Trump’s inauguration. Around half a million marchers attended the Women’s March in the country’s capital on Saturday, Jan 21.
The numbers were estimated by the crowd scientists Keith Still and Marcel Altenburg who analyzed photos at videos from the National Mall.
Based on that, Still and Altenburg estimated that approximately 160,000 people have attended Trump’s inauguration while there were around 470,000 people in the crowd at the Women’s March. They compared the data from peak points on both days.
Thank you to every single person who joined us in the streets yesterday. Thank you to all the those who organized globally. Thank you to all the sister marches who marched in solidarity. Thank you to all the state organizers for your tireless work. Thank you every single person who worked themselves to the bone making this happen. We have changed the world. And this is only the beginning. #WomensMarch
