“A lot can happen in a lifetime” and by the first comprehensive look at Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman that certainly true.
With a little help from de-aging technology applied to the film’s star, we get to see Robert De Niro as mob enforcer Frank Sheeran from his mid-20s to his 80s. The film also stars Joe Pesci as the ruthless crime syndicate boss, Russell Bufalino, and Al Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa.
The trailer dropped during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Wednesday night. De Niro spoke with Fallon about the de-aging process saying, “They didn’t want it to get in our way. And Marty didn’t want that … They had all kinds of cameras taking pictures, a special camera photographing us.”
The Irishman was penned by Schinder’s List and Gangs of New York scribe Steven Zaillia. Ray Romano, Bobby Cannavale, Anna Paquin, and Jesse Plemons also star in the film.
The Irishman premieres on Netflix November 27. Watch the trailer below!
