Practical Magic is making a comeback as a prequel series.
Multiple outlets report that HBO Max has given the green light to a new prequel series to the beloved film.
The series titled Rules of Magic will follow a similar plotline as the film. Set in 1960s New York City, the film will follow three siblings — Franny, Jet, and Vincent Owens — as they struggle to come to terms with the discovery that they are descendants of witches. It is based on Alice Hoffman’s novels Rules of Magic and Practical Magic.
The Rules of Magic pilot order joins two more pilots ordered by the forthcoming streaming service — Generation and Red Bird Lane. Also coming to HBO Max are binge-worthy titles such as Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Pretty Little Liars.
HBO Max is set to launch in spring 2020.
