The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is full of surprises this year! They dropped a shortlist for nine different categories, and some of our favorites, including Black Panther and Mary Poppins Returns, made the cut.
If your hoping to find out who’ll be competing for Best Picture this year, this shortlist won’t provide you with the answers you’re looking for. The Academy is still not ready to put all of their cards on the table, and they only unveiled shortlist for a couple of minor categories.
The Academy unveiled the list of movies in contention for the Oscars across nine different categories, related to documentaries, short films, technical achievements, and music. It’s pretty interesting to see their picks, but we’ll have to wait until January 22 for the complete list of nominations to be revealed.
