Adam Lambert Shares the Inspiration Behind New Album “Velvet”

Adam Lambert is gearing up for a pretty busy summer, and not only because he’ll be touring alongside Queen. He’s also working on his fourth studio album Velvet, which will be his most ‘organic’ record to date.

The American Idol star discussed his new music in a recent interview with Hunger Magazine, and said that his new album was mostly inspired by 1970s sound, and also features rock, soul, R&B and funk influences.

“Overall the album has more of an organic feel and you can hear all the instruments in it – I wanted to get on stage with a four-piece band and play. It’s not dependent on computerized sounds, there are a lot more instruments going on,” said Adam Lambert.

The Grammy-nominated singer gave us a taste of his new music with “New Eyes”, and picked this song as a lead single for a very special reason.

“I have a lot of different moods and energies in the album all living in this Velvet world. I chose this song because of the message and the mood – it’s a romantic song about needing someone who you are so inspired by you to see the whole world differently through their eyes,” explained Lambert.
