Alejandro González Iñárritu Named Cannes Jury President

The 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival is coming our way this spring, and we finally know who will head the jury. The Oscar-winning director of Birdman and The Revenant, Alejandro González Iñárritu, has been named as the president of the jury.

Iñárritu’s relationship with this renowned festival goes all the way back to 2000 when his first feature-length film, Amores Perros, premiered in Cannes. The celebrated director said he’s humbled and thrilled to return to the French city and assume the immense honor of presiding over the jury.

“We on the jury will have the privilege to witness the new and excellent work of fellow filmmakers from all over the planet. This is a true delight and a responsibility, that we will assume with passion and devotion,” explained Iñárritu.

The festival’s president Pierre Lescure said he was delighted after four-time Oscar winner accepted his invitation to head the jury. We can’t wait to see who else will join him when Cannes Film Festival kicks off on May 14.
