Netflix announced Monday that Alexa & Katie has been renewed for a second season.
The 13-episode first season, and now the forthcoming second season, marks the first multi-camera comedy produced by Netflix.
The show premiered on the streaming giant on March 23 and follows titular best friends during their freshman year of high school, when a crisis hits that leaves them feeling on the outs, at a time when it’s most important to fit in. Alexa is played by Paris Berelc (Mighty Med, Lab Rats: Elite Force) and Katie is played by newcomer Isabel May. Also starring in the show are Tiffani Thiessen as Alexa’s mother as well as Emery Kelly, Eddie Shin, Jolie Jenkins, and Finn Carr.
While casting in the second season remains the same as in the first, on the executive sides there will be some changes. Replacing Matthew Carlson as showrunner is Heather Wordham. Wordham’s previous credits include Reba and Hannah Montana.
