The Alien franchise has been dormant for a few years, but its comeback is finally in sight. The first trailer for Alien: Romulus is here, and it follows a group of young space travelers fighting for survival in the deep ends of space.

According to the 20th Century Studio’s official logline, Alien: Romulus centers on a group of young space colonizers who come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe while scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station.

Romulus is set between the events of Ridley Scott’s Alien and James Cameron’s Aliens, and it experienced a major creative overhaul behind the scenes. Scott is back as one of the producers via Scott Free Productions, but Fede Álvarez (Don’t Breathe) was in charge of directing this spin-off and writing the script alongside Rodo Sayagues.

Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) and Isabela Merced (Madame Web) lead the cast, alongside David Jonsson (Rye Lane), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Aftersun), and newcomer Aileen Wu.

Alien: Romulus was originally developed as a Hulu original before 20th Century Studio decided to shift its release model. They eventually switched to a theatrical release, scheduled for August 16.
