“Almost Family” Canceled After One Season on Fox

After just one season, Fox has decided to cancel Almost Family starring Timothy Hutton and Brittany Snow.

The news comes as no surprise as the show didn’t get a back order and it didn’t make it onto Fox’s midseason schedule. Almost Family was also changed from Wednesday’s slot to Saturday’s time slot for its last two episodes.

Snow starred as only child Julia Bechley, who after learning about her father Leon Bechley (Hutton), a fertility doctor who during his career used his sperm to father dozens of children, her life takes an unexpected turn. Megalyn Echikunwoke and Emily Osment play two of his children.

In January, Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn told Deadline, “We have been talking about developing a series about how DNA affects who you are and your journey and it’s something that people are talking about all the time, with 23 and me for example…We are really proud of the show. We gave it a great time slot, we really tried to set it up for success.”
