“American Horror Story: 1984” Gets a Premiere Date

The ninth installment of Ryan Murphy’s horror drama will return this fall.

FX announced Monday that American Horror Story:1984 will premiere on September 18.

This time around fans are being kept almost completely in the dark about the forthcoming installment. Back in April creator Ryan Murphy confirmed the title of the installment and dropped a short clip that teased the installment’s vintage ’80s horror/slasher vibe.

Executive producer Tim Minear added that AHS:1984 is going to be a treat for fans of ‘80s horror.

“I will tell you nothing, except that I think it’s awesome,” he said. “I think it’s gonna be really scary but a lot of fun, like it always is. And that if you have a taste for ’80s horror, you’re in for a treat.”

He added of Murphy’s creative decisions: “Generally, Ryan is ahead of the zeitgeist as opposed to following it. So what I would say is that this has been an area that Ryan has talked about since I’ve known him and it’s just a real sweet spot for him. And I think it was time for him to do it.”

Very early in the year it was confirmed that alum Emma Roberts will return but longtime star of the franchise, Evan Peters, will not be.
