There won’t be American Idol in 2018, even though both NBC and FOX wanted to put the show back on the air. NBC wants to rotate Idol with two other talent shows – America’s Got Talent and The Voice.
However, the owners of Idol, Fremantle and Core, didn’t respond to any of the networks’ offers. Fremantle is also the owner of the AGT, and the sources say the company is pushing the owner hard to accept the NBC offer.
Apparently, Fremantle was trying to devalue Idol and the negotiations with the two companies have been put on hold.
