Max gave us one of their most successful original shows with And Just Like That… and they’re not letting go of it anytime soon. The S-x and the City revival has been renewed for its third season a few days ahead of its highly-anticipated Season 2 finale.
This revival series reunited us with S-x and the City characters played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon. The series shifts focus from focusing on a group of NYC women navigating their life and friendship in their 30s to trying to do the same in their 50s.
Season 2 opened with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw’s trying to overcome the loss of her beloved husband Mr. Big. Nixon’s Miranda Hobbes is on her journey of self-discovery, while navigating her complex relationship with Che (Sara Ramirez), while Davis’ Charlotte York wants to figure out who she is outside her role as a devoted mother and wife.
Season 2 will end its run on August 24, and the finale will feature a brief cameo from Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in S-x and the City.
And Just Like That… premiered on HBO Max in 2021, and it was granted renewal due to its impressive ratings despite being conceived as a mini-series. Its creator Michael Patrick King said they’re “thrilled to spend more time in the S-x and the City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters” following the Season 3 renewal.
