Andrew Lincoln recently waved goodbye to the fans of The Walking Dead – and he’s already ready to return! He’ll reprise his iconic role as Rick Grimes in a series of spin-off movies, currently in development at AMC.
According to recent reports, Lincoln will come back for at least three of the upcoming feature-length films. They are envisioned as a continuation of Grimes’ adventure, but he’ll be separated from the group featured on the original series this time around.
Lincoln announced his departure from the show a few months ago, and fans of The Walking Dead feared his character won’t make it out alive. That didn’t happen and Grimes’ story came to a pretty ambiguous conclusion, but it turns out it wasn’t the end of the road.
Showrunner of the original series Scott M. Gimple will be in charge of writing new spin-off films. He believes they can break new ground with different and distinct stories that are a part of the same exciting universe.
“We have a lot on the horizon – starting with a new epic featuring one of the greatest leading actors in television history and one of the best people I’ve ever met,” concluded Gimple.
