Andy Serkis, Thomas Brodie-Sangster to Star in “Mouse Guard”

Andy Serkis and Thomas Brodie-Sangster have joined Fox’s adaptation of Mouse Guard.

The two have been tapped to star as the leads in Fox’s adaptation, which is based on the Boom! Studios graphic novels. The Mouse Guard series was created, penned and illustrated by David Petersen. It was launched in 2006 and earned wide success.

The feature will use similar technology employed in the Planet of the Apes films, which means motion caption and lots of visual effects. Mouse Guard will be directed by Maze Runner’sWes Ball from a script written by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story scribe Gary Whitta.

Set in medieval times it follows “an order of mice who are the sworn protectors of their realm.” Serkis will portray the Gaurd’s villainous blacksmith, Midnight, and Brodie-Sangster will play Lieam, the Guard’s newest and youngest members.

Producing is Matt Reeves with Ross Richie and Stephen Christy of Boom! Studios and Joe Hartwick Jr.

Production is scheduled to being in the spring.
