Angelina Jolie Will Play the Lead in Revenge Thriller “The Kept”

Avid fans of Angelina Jolie have been anticipating her new project for years, and the actress is finally giving them what they asked for. The Oscar winner just joined upcoming thriller The Kept, a tale of a grieving mother seeking revenge.

James Scott’s 2014 novel of the same name serves as inspiration for Jolie’s new film. The script will be written by Alice Birch, who proved she has a knack for developing complex female characters with Lady Macbeth.

The Kept is set in rural New York state at the turn of the twentieth century. It follows a mother and her young son, who embark on a quest to avenge a terrible and violent tragedy that shattered their secluded home. After a trio of killers slaughters the rest of their family, they end up wandering through the frozen wilderness in search of the men responsible.

This exciting thriller will be Jolie’s first live-action role since 2015’s By the Sea, which she also directed. The Kept isn’t the only exciting project she’ll grace us within the upcoming year or two. Jolie recently wrapped the Maleficent sequel and she’s currently filming Come Away, a fantasy drama based on both Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan.
