Another Revival on the Way? It’s Time for 1960’s “The Munsters” to Return

Looks like the The Munsters is joining the growing TV series’ revival trend.

It has been over 50 years since the show first aired on CBS in 1964, and even though it was cancelled due to low rating in 1966, it might be making a comeback. Despite its short run, the show become somewhat of a cultural icon having replaced humans with monsters to portray a typical family.

This isn’t the first time the network has thought of bringing back The Munsters. A reboot titled Mockingbird Lane, was supposed to air in 2012 starring Jerry O’Connell, Portia de Rossi and Eddie Izzard. However, NBC decided to air the pilot as a Halloween special the same year instead.

The possible revival will follow a similar premise to that of the original, with an unconventional family trying to make it work with non-monsters in hipster Brooklyn. The script written by Jill Kargman still needs to go through the pilot process to see if the revival will be green lighted.
