Mattel started plotting several films themed around their toys following the success of Barbie, and Bob the Builder is the next one in line. In the Heights star Anthony Ramos will voice the title character in the upcoming animated film inspired by the hit children’s series Bob the Builder.

According to Mattel’s official logline, this film will see Roberto aka Bob travel to Puerto Rico for a major construction job, where he’ll take on issues affecting the island.

Ramos is looking forward to delivering an “important message” with this film, which draws inspiration from his own life.

“For years, Bob the Builder’s characters have inspired young people around the world. A movie about friends working together, a celebration of a beautiful home they share, and how love can help to conquer any obstacle in your way. Can we fix it? Yes, we can!” said Ramos in a statement.

In addition to voicing the main character, Ramos is also coming on board as one of the producers alongside Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico of ShadowMachine and Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, and Benny Medina of Nuyorican Productions.

Bob the Builder series ran for over 250 episodes between 1999 and 2011, and it will be adapted for the big screen by Felipe Vargas.
