Fans lost it when Anya Taylor-Joy was cast as the young Furiosa in the prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, and we finally know what her version of the character will look like. The first trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is here, and it captures Furiosa’s explosive origin story.

According to the film’s official synopsis, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will open with the titular heroine being snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers. She gets abducted by the Warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) and must sweep through the Wasteland with his Biker Horde.

Their luck turns once they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two tyrants battle for dominance, Furiosa must summon her strength and survive the challenges that lay ahead as she tries to find her way back home.

In addition to Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will also star Alyla Browne, Tom Burke, Nathan Jones, Angus Sampson, Quaden Bayles, Daniel Webber, and Lachy Hulme. Mad Max: Fury Road director, George Miller, returned to helm the prequel and co-wrote the script with Nico Lathouris.

After several production delays and one release date shift, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will hit the theaters on May 24, 2024.
