Aquaman hit some major milestones for the DC Universe since its release in December. We’ll get to swim back into the world from this superhero blockbuster in the upcoming spin-off The Trench.
The script for this promising project will be penned by newcomers Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald. It will focus on the underwater kingdom known as the Trench, and the deadly deep sea creatures that inhabit it. They made a brief appearance in the original movie when they attacked Aquaman and Mera, played by Jason Momoa and Amber Heard.
Unfortunately, we won’t get to see this duo in the upcoming spin-off. Cast members of Aquaman won’t participate in this project, and neither will their director James Wan who’s currently working on the sequel, which is still in its early stages.
First movie left the room for the follow-up, and DC confirmed they’re working on it back in January. It’s safe to expect Jason Momoa will return for the sequel in titular role, but he’s yet to confirm his involvement.
