The Avatar sequel marks the end of filming for 2019.

It’s a wrap for James Cameron’s forthcoming Avatar sequel — for this year. The happy moment was celebrated on Twitter with the official Avatar account sharing a behind-the-scenes photo.

The behind-the-scenes pic was captioned with “That’s a wrap, Na’vi Nation! It’s our last day of live-action filming in 2019, and we’re celebrating with a sneak peek. Check out this photo of the aft well deck section of the Sea Dragon, a massive mothership that carries an array of other sea-going craft in the sequels.”

The long-awaited sequel to the 2009 sci-fi film stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, and Matt Gerald, who all starred in the original film. New cast members include Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh  Vin Diesel, and more

Avatar 2, one of four sequels announced by Cameron, is expected to arrive in theaters on December 17, 2021.
