Avril Lavigne Says Thank You to Fans & Gives Update on New Album

Avril Lavigne took to Twitter on Thursday to thank her fans for their continued support and revealed new music is in the works.

“To my fans, I just want to thank everyone for their patience as I work on putting together this new album,” the 32-year-old singer began. “It’s been a long recovery and I want to make sure that this is perfect for you guys!!”

“You only deserve my best effort and that’s what I’m going to deliver!” she continued. “I can’t wait to share the new music I’m working on, I promise it’ll be here before you know it!! Love you, Avril.”

She also shared a photo of herself with musician Zane Carney in the studio earlier in the day, which she captioned, “Zane and I today recording. Been through a lot together and making music is a part of the #healing.”

The “Complicated” singer was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2014 and has kept out of the public eye, updating fans from time to time on her health, ET reports. She announced at the end of last year that she will be releasing a new album in 2017, her first project in four years since 2013’s self-titled album.

In March, Lavigne announced on Instagram that she had signed a record deal with BMG.

“At this point in my career and in my life, I just wanted to put fresh energy around me and I feel like I’m having somewhat of a rebirth in my life. I’ve been faced with a lot, gone through a lot emotionally,” she wrote.

“The whole writing process has been therapeutic and empowering. This album is a natural process for me and it’s coming from a very honest place. My hope is that it is an inspiration to many people.”

The “Sk8er Boi” singer started working on her sixth studio album in May, sharing a snapshot of herself sitting at the piano, saying, “”Officially beginning production this week for the album. Wahoo. Almost there. Been pouring my heart and soul into writing these new songs for you guys. Can’t wait !!!! #AL6.”
