Bad Bunny only reached the no. 2 spot on the Billboard 200 chart with his new album YHLQMDLG, but still managed to make history as the album became the highest-charting all-Spanish-language album of all time in the U.S.

YHLQMDLG is the abbreviation of the phrase “Yo hago lo que me da la gana,” meaning “I Do What I Want”. The album came out on February 29th, and it was right behind Lil Baby’s latest LP on this week’s Billboard 200 chart.

With 179,000 album-equivalent units sold in its first week, YHLQMDLG managed to surpass previous record-holders Shakira’s Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 and Maná’s Amar es Combatir – and become the first all-Spanish-language album to ever soar to no. 2 in the US.

Bad Bunny’s new LP also reached the no. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart, becoming his third record to do so, following his 2018 debut X 100pre and collaborative album Oasis, that he recorded alongside Colombian singer J Balvin last year.
