Benicio Del Toro Joins Voice Cast of “Dora The Explorer”

Benicio del Toro has joined the cast of Paramount Players’ live-action Dora The Explorer feature.

The Oscar-winning actor has been set as the voice of the villainous fox in the upcoming film about the beloved young explorer. Del Toro will lend his voice to the thieving fox, Swiper, who always tries to undermine Dora’s efforts and steal her hard-won artifacts.

This casting was confirmed two weeks after the movie wrapped production in Australia. According to The Hollywood Reporter, voice casts for CG characters tend to be locked in when postproduction begins, so no worries there.

Del Toro stars opposite Isabela Moner as the titular character. Michael Pena and Eva Longoria are set to voice Dora’s parents, as well as Eugenio Derbez, Adriana Barraza, Q’orianka Kilcher and Temuera Morrison.

The movie follows a high school-bound Dora leading her friends and her monkey best friend, Boots on a Goonies-esque adventure to save her parents and solve the mystery behind a lost Inca civilization.

Dora The Explorer is set for an August 2, 2019, release.
