Beyoncé Set to Produce “The Lion King” Inspired Album

Beyoncé will be voicing Nala in the new The Lion King live-action remake, but it turns out her connection to this project doesn’t end there. The R&B icon will also produce and curate a new album inspired by this movie.

The Lion King: The Gift will hit the shelves on July 19th – the same day the highly-anticipated film arrives at the theaters. It will feature brand-new songs from a number of recording artists who “steeped in the sounds of Africa” for this occasion.

Beyoncé gave us a taste of things to come with her new song “Spirit”, but this album has so much more in store. She described it as “sonic cinema” and “new experience of storytelling”, and promised a mixture of different musical styles.

“I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn’t one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, hip hop and Afro Beat,” said Beyoncé in an official statement.
