Big Little Lies brings Adam Scott back for season 2

Little by little, Big Little Lies fans get more reveals about the highly anticipated second season.

Star of the series Adam Scott will return to season two of Big Little Lies. Scott will, of course, be joined by the series’ five leading ladies, Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz, Laura Dern, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon.

The network announced Tuesday that Scott will reprise his role as Ed Mackenzie, Madeline’s (Witherspoon) husband. In season 2, Scott’s character is “forced to confront major challenges in his marriage,” stemming from Madeline’s infidelity.

In addition to the ladies of Monterey’s return for the next installment, Hollywood icon Meryl Streep was cast as Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Perry (Alexander Skarsgård).

HBO says the new season “will explore the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. Relationships will fray, loyalties will erode … the potential for an emotional and bodily injury shall loom.” Penning all seven episodes of the second season is David E. Kelley.
