“The Big Sick” co-writer Emily V. Gordon will adapt “The Nest” for Amazon

After having earned an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay for The Big Sick, co-scribe Emily V. Gordon is making her way to Amazon.

EW has confirmed that Gordon will adapt Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney’s best-selling novel The Nest. Already signed on for the film adaptation of the novel are Transparent’s Jill Soloway and independent film producer Andrea Sperling who will both serve as producers. Carly Kahane will be the executive on the project for Topple, Solway’s production company.

Published in March 2016, The Nest went on to hit the best-seller list, telling the story of the Plumbs, a dysfunctional literary family, who must come to terms with their future as their older brother has endangered their joint trust fund, also known as “The Nest.”

Gordon and her husband, Kumail Nanjiani, have received multiple nods for The Big Sick including the nomination for an Academy Award, Writers Guild Award, Gotham Award, Independent Spirit Award, and Critics’ Choice Award. The film recently took home the Critics’ Choice Award for best comedy.
