Billie Eilish Scores Her First No. 1 Single with “Bad Guy”

2019 is definitely Billie Eilish’s year, but we spent a lot of time waiting for the young singer to earn her first chart-topping single. That moment finally came as “Bad Guy” managed to become the no. 1 song on Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Eilish’s hit song managed to dethrone the unofficial song of the summer “Old Town Road,” which set a major Billboard record after spending 19 consecutive weeks at the no. 1 spot. Both Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus congratulated the young singer for this accomplishment and thanked their fans for helping them stay on top for so long.

Many factors contributed to Eilish’s success, but this moment was in the making ever since her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? hit the shelves on March 29th. She dropped the video for “Bad Guy” that same day, and used it to hype her new record.

This song spent months at the top 5 on Billboard Hot 100 chart, but the colossal success of “Old Town Road” prevented it from reaching the top. That apparently changed after Billie Eilish dropped a vertical video for this smash hit last week, which obviously renewed interest in her music.
