Billy Gardell to Star in New Chuck Lorre Rom-com

The Mike & Molly alum has been tapped to star in a new romantic comedy by Chuck Lorre. 

CBS has ordered the pilot Bob hearts Abishola, that follows an interracial couple that meets over a broken heart. 

Billy Gardell is set to play a man who has a heart attack and falls in love with his Nigerian nurse. Then Gardell’s character “sets his sights on getting her to give him a chance,” according to the official logline.

The series will be shot in the multi-camera format. The series is helmed by Lorre alongside Eddie Gorodetsky, Al Higgins, and Gina Yashere, with Lorre, Gorodetsky, and Higgins also serving as executive producers. 

Gardell is best known for his role opposite Melissa McCarthy in Mike & Molly. The series aired for six seasons from 2010 to 2016 and followed a man and a woman who met and fell in love at an overeaters anonymous meeting.
