“Black Panther” Top-Grossing Film in History at 33 AMC Theaters

Disney and Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is breaking box-office records.

Ryan’s Cooler’s superhero movie has already the highest-grossing title in history at 33 AMC Theaters across the US. In other words, Black Panther has earned more in these theaters than any other movie has over a single weekend.

The movie that has earned the coveted and rare A+ CinemaScore from audiences, is also on its way to making history at the North American box office earning 75.8 million on Friday. It’s projected domestic debut is $205-$210 million over the four-day President’s Day weekend.

Easily scoring the top February opening of all time, it is most likely to score the biggest debut ever for a superhero flick, currently held by Marvel title The Avengers ($207.4 million).

The movie follows T’Challa/Black Panther, king of Wakanda, a hidden lost world in Africa defined by royal traditions and technological wonders. It stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther as well as Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis.
