A Simple Favor 2 has been in development for quite some time, and Amazon MGM Studios finally gave it the green light. Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick are headlining the sequel, and they’ll be joined by several original cast members when A Simple Favor returns for round two.

The sequel will see Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Lively) jetting off to the beautiful Italian island of Capri for Emily’s lavish wedding to a rich Italian businessman. This film is bringing many twists and turns our way, with murder and betrayal also on the wedding menu for everyone who RSVPs.

In addition to Kendrick and Lively in the lead roles, A Simple Favor 2 will also mark the return of Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, and Kelly McCormack.

A Simple Favor originally came out in 2018, and it drew inspiration from Darcey Bell’s book about a small-town woman trying to solve the disappearance of her elegant, rich friend. The film was a major success for Lionsgate, grossing $97 million worldwide on a $20 million budget.

Paul Feig is returning to direct the sequel, written by Jessica Sharzer, with revisions by Laeta Kalogridis and Feig. The production will kick off this spring, and Amazon MGM is yet to set the streaming release date on Prime Video.
