Ryan Reynolds was noticeably absent from the 2018 Met Gala on Monday but his wife, Blake Lively, brought her family at the event through a hidden message embedded within her ensemble.

This year’s gala theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” and no doubt Lively was one of the best dressed of the night, looking absolutely beautiful in her crimson gown, embroidered bodice, bejewelled straps and fabulously long train. The Versace gown took more than 600 hours to make.

Given all the detailed work of her outfit, headpiece and jewelry, many may have overlooked her important accessory – a custom clutch by Judith Leiber embellished with rhinestones. The purse actually had a hidden message – a subtle and adorable tribute to her husband and their two daughters. The image on one side of the clutch featured the Sacred Heart of Mary, while the other side had “Reynolds” written in crystals and a shape of a cross. Each point of the symbol had letters B (Blake), R (Ryan), J (daughter James) and I (youngest daughter Ines).

“Judith Leiber’s lasting legacy lives on,” the brand wrote on Instagram. “Blake Lively carries a custom Seamless Sacred Heart on the #MetGala red carpet tonight.”
