Quentin Tarantino is plotting his final film The Movie Critic, and this project will reunite him with one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Brad Pitt is eyeing one of the main roles in Tarantino’s farewell film, which would mark his third collaboration with the acclaimed director.

Pitt and Tarantino go a long way – he led his alternative history epic Inglourious Basterds before reuniting for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, for which Pitt won his first acting Oscar. He also made one of his early film appearances in the 1993 cult classic True Romance, which was written by Tarantino.

It’s been rumored that Tarantino’s next film will be based on the life of the New Yorker’s Pauline Kael, but he dispelled those speculations. The Movie Critic will be set in 70s California and center on a guy who used to write movie reviews for an adult magazine.

“He wrote about mainstream movies and he was the second-string critic. I think he was a very good critic. He was as cynical as hell. His reviews were a cross between early Howard Stern and what Travis Bickle might be if he were a film critic,” Tarantino told Deadline.

In addition to The Movie Critic, Pitt is attached to several more high-profile projects, including Jon Watts’s action thriller Wolfs and Joseph Kosinski’s sports drama set in the world of Formula 1.
