Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard in Talks to Star in “Ghostbusters”

Casting on the new installment of Ghostbusters has commenced.

Variety reports that Carrie Coon and Finn Wolfhard are in talks to join Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters. The film is said to focus on a single mom and her family, and should Coon and Wolfhard they are set to star as a mother-son duo. Filmmakers are currently working on casting the rest of the family

While very little is known about the story, it is known that the film will ignore Paul Feig’s 2016 female-led film.

The forthcoming feature is directed by Reitman from a script he co-wrote with Gel Kenan. Reitman is the son of original Ghostbusters helmer, Ivan Reitman, who has been set as producer.

The movie is set to go into production this summer, and is expected to hit theaters July 2020.

Coon’s credits include Fargo and The Leftovers. Finn Wolfhard is best known for his role in Netflix’s Stranger Things
