“Cats” Casts Hamilton’s Andy Blankenbuehler as Choreographer

The film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, Cats has tapped some major talent.

Variety confirms that the upcoming Universal Pictures and Working Title’s film adaptation has set Andy Blankenbuehler as the production’s choreographer. Blankenbuehler is known most recently as the choreographer for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton.

Blankenbuehler has won three Tonys for his work on Hamilton, Bandstand, and In the Heights.

The upcoming adaptation of the fourth-longest-running show in Broadway history and was the longest-running Broadway show ever from 1997 until 2006, is already boasting a stellar cast including Idris Elba, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, Judi Dench, James Corden, and Ian McKellen. The film will be direct by Tom Hopper from a script he co-wrote with Lee Hall.

Cats is dated for December 20, 2019.
