Garfield is definitely one of the most iconic pop culture cats of all time, and Sony Pictures will soon introduce him to a brand-new generation of views. The first trailer for The Garfield Movie is finally here, and Chris Pratt is in charge of voicing our favorite grumpy cat.

After years in the making, The Garfield Movie will finally see the light of day next year, and here’s what it has in store, according to its official synopsis:

“The world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.”

Chris Pratt will be joined by Samuel L. Jackson as Vic, Harvey Guillén as Odie, plus Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Brett Goldstein, and Bowen Yang in undisclosed roles. Mark Dindal (The Emperor’s New Groove, Chicken Little) was in charge of directing this project, while David Reynolds, Paul A. Kaplan, and Mark Torgove wrote the script.

The Garfield Movie will hit the theaters on May 24, 2024, and Sony Pictures already struck streaming deals with Netflix and Disney.
