Christian Bale Enters the Oscar Race With First Trailer For “Vice”

Christian Bale went through several crazy body transformations over the course of the last few decades, but he took things to a whole new level in Vice. The trailer for his latest project just dropped, and the Oscar-winning actor looks completely unrecognizable as former vice president Dick Cheney.

Vice promises to tell the untold story behind the most powerful vice president in American history, and how his policies changed the world as we know it.

Christian Bale gained 40 pounds to play Cheney and claimed he ate a lot of pies to achieve this goal. He also worked hard to nail his mannerisms and accent. Bale did a lot of research to learn more about his policies so he could easily improvise at any given moment. This isn’t the first time Bale pushed his body to the limits and completely immersed in the character. That’s why Adam McKay knew he was the right person for the job even before he hired him.

“What Christian Bale really does is he psychologically breaks someone apart and puts them back together again. I’ve never seen someone work so hard. It is hard on him, but really amazing to watch,” explained McKay, who previously directed Bale in The Big Short.

Vice also stars Sam Rockwell as George W. Bush, Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney and Steve as Donald Rumsfeld. It’s scheduled to be released on December 25, in the peak of the awards season.
