As If! “Clueless” is Getting a Remake

It’s been more than 20 years since Clueless hit the theaters and redefined teen rom-coms forever. The story of seemingly superficial teen Cher Horowitz is about to see a new light of day after being remade for the younger generation.

Fans of beloved classics usually aren’t fans of the idea of having their favorite movies remade, but the new Clueless actually looks intriguing. Tracy Oliver, the writer behind the critically acclaimed comedy Girls Trip, will produce the new version. Marquita Robinson, who worked on Netflix’s GLOW, will be in charge of penning the script.

The original movie was loosely based on the classic novel, Emma, by Jane Austen and provided a satirical look at the lives of students of an elite Beverly Hills high school. Clueless even spawned a spin-off TV show, but it failed to replicate the success of the original.

The upcoming remake seems more promising, but we’re yet to find out who’s going to replace Alicia Silverstone in the lead role. No matter who takes over from her, they certainly have a some very fancy shoes to fill.
