42-year-old Travis Malouff of Denver Colorado reportedly choked to death attempting to gobble a massive 8-pound donut during an eating challenge at the city’s ‘Voodoo Doughnut’ store.
According to reports by Denver 9News, as part of the store’s Tex Ass Challenge, Malouff died while trying to eat the giant donut – the equivalent of six regular doughnuts and a whopping 7-inch diameter – in 80 seconds or less.
The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner said that the official cause of the tragic death was “asphyxia, due to obstruction of the airway”
According to witnesses, patrons rushed to help but appeared to have ‘no medical training’, and were thus unsuccessful at saving Malouff.
