A new family comedy from Modern Family writers and executive producers gets a pilot production commitment at ABC.
The single-camera project hails from Abraham Higginbotham and Jon Pollack and 20th Century Fox TV where the two are under overall deals.
The series is titled Happy Accidents and according to Variety, it follows Pittsburgh families — a father with three adult daughters, and a hotel lounge singer with her med student son — as they are forced together after a decades-old secret is revealed.
According to the outlet, the project as a spec script at 20th TV. ABC Studios intends to begin casting immediately and production is expected to begin at the beginning of the upcoming pilot season. The search for a director is also underway.
Happy Accident marks the second commitment ABC has given to a project form 20th TV. It joins the iconic cop drama NYPD Blue.
